All merit badges must be worked on with a registered merit badge counselor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\" id=\"yui_3_17_2_1_1618592804930_859\"><img src=\"https:\/\/images.squarespace-cdn.com\/content\/v1\/593b01b71b10e3d89888540a\/1497405092081-LRF12FK3Z78L8D5J31OK\/ke17ZwdGBToddI8pDm48kAsKOXJX_sEsbjaARjjFIWtZw-zPPgdn4jUwVcJE1ZvWEtT5uBSRWt4vQZAgTJucoTqqXjS3CfNDSuuf31e0tVGiQxIIyhSJTliMJ9oK-LmYt4VYNUIbUdBx0qTJFDZLdnE8srnKMOMNjz-XMk4n9BE\/image-asset.jpeg?format=500w\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Blue Card and the Merit Badge Process<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>If you would like to work on a merit badge, go to the Troop Committee Chair to ask permission and request a Blue Card.<\/li><li>If the Committee Chair agrees that you are ready, they will provide you a &#8220;blue card&#8221;&#8211;a record of your work on that merit badge, and the name of a merit badge counselor.<\/li><li>A merit badge counselor is someone with special knowledge or expertise in the subject matter of the merit badge.<\/li><li>It will be the responsibility of the Scout to call the counselor to set up an appointment to work on the merit badge with him\/her.<\/li><li>Scouts will need to read the merit badge pamphlet for that badge. They may borrow the pamphlet from the troop library (if one exist) or from the counselor, or you can purchase.<\/li><li>When a Scout has completed all of the requirements, the counselor will sign the &#8220;blue card&#8221; and tear off one section of it for his\/her records.<\/li><li>Scouts are to take the other two parts to the Scoutmaster. He will sign it and turn it in to the Troop Committee Chair so that the scout may be awarded the merit badge.<\/li><li>Scouts will receive one section of the blue card back when presented the physical badge. Keep it safe!
